How Oasis Singles works

Joining, browsing and building a profile cost nothing. Here's what happens after that, and what you should know before you pay.

In short

Oasis Singles is a dating site for regional and active Australians, run by High Intent Media Inc. Joining, building a profile and browsing are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, charged in US dollars. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, so members of those sites can see and message you too.

Joining takes a couple of minutes

You sign up in the members area with an email address, a password and your date of birth. You must be 18 or over. From there it's four steps:

  1. Create your account with email, password and date of birth.
  2. Add at least one photo. A profile photo is usually required, and every photo is reviewed.
  3. Fill in your profile. Fields include who you're looking for, the age range and distance you're interested in, and optional details such as kids, smoking, drinking, religion and languages.
  4. Browse. Look at who's around before you decide whether to pay.

A tip for regional members: say where you are and how far you'd travel. "Near Wagga, often in Albury for work" or "Sunshine Coast hinterland, happy to drive to Noosa" is more useful to the person reading than a vague "regional Queensland". If you'd rather not be recognised straight away, our guide to keeping your dating life private in a small town has ideas for photos and wording.

What's free and what you pay for

Looking is free; talking is paid. The split is simple:

Free Needs a paid membership
Creating an account and profile Reading messages
Browsing profiles Replying to messages
Receiving interest from other members Seeing who liked or viewed you
Viewing photos in full, read receipts

Free members see ads. Memberships are charged in US dollars, and there are optional extras such as profile boosts and an ID-verified badge. The prices page has the current table, how the currency conversion works and what appears on your card statement. You don't need to pay anything to look around first, and that's the sensible way to start.

Your profile is seen beyond Oasis Singles

Oasis Singles is part of a network of partner dating sites that share one member database. This is the part many sites bury, so here it is plainly: your profile can be seen by members of those other sites, and they can message you. Their profiles show which site they joined through.

In practice that means a bigger pool to browse, and it also means not everyone you come across joined here or lives near you. Check where someone says they are before you get attached to the idea of a Saturday coffee. If they're a few hours away, the long-distance guide in our guides section is worth a read before you plan a trip.

What we check, and what we don't

Every photo is reviewed. What people write about themselves, including age, job, location and relationship status, is not checked.

You can add an optional ID-verified badge, which costs extra and involves checking a photo ID against a selfie through a verification provider, LEM Verify. Some members are asked to verify before they can continue, for example if they sign up through a VPN or their account is flagged. A badge tells you someone's ID matched their face; it doesn't tell you anything about their intentions. Our safety page covers the warning signs to look for and where to report a problem, including how romance scams usually unfold.

Join Oasis Singles free

Free to join and browse. Reading and replying to messages is paid.

Cancelling and deleting

Cancelling stops payments; deleting removes your profile. They're separate steps.

  • Cancel: paid memberships renew automatically until you cancel. Go to Settings > Billing in the members area. The billing name that will appear on your statement is shown at checkout, which is worth noting so you don't mistake the charge for something else.
  • Delete: click your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account.

If you're having trouble signing in, see log in help. The key facts page puts all of this on one screen, including who runs the site, and about Oasis Singles explains why we're not the site that closed.

Questions people ask

Do I have to pay to join?

No. Signing up, creating a profile and browsing are free, and other members can show interest in you. You only pay if you want to read and reply to messages and use features like seeing who has liked or viewed you. The sensible way to start is to look around for free first and only pay once you've seen people worth talking to.

Can people on other sites see my profile?

Yes. Oasis Singles shares one member database with partner sites in the same network, and members of those sites can see and message you. Profiles show which site someone joined through. It means a bigger pool to browse, but also that some people you come across may live a long way from you, so check before you plan a date.

Are profiles checked?

Photos are reviewed. What members write about themselves, such as age, job, town or relationship status, is not checked, so treat it the way you'd treat anything a stranger tells you. An optional ID-verified badge shows that someone's photo ID matched a selfie, but it says nothing about their intentions. Our safety page covers the warning signs.

Can I join from New Zealand?

Yes. The members area accepts sign-ups from several countries, including Australia and New Zealand. Oasis Singles is written for regional and outdoorsy Australians, and prices are charged in US dollars wherever you join from, so your bank converts each charge into your own currency at its own rate.
